December. Traditionally, it is that month of the year that we see schools all over the country having their alumni grand homecoming. And for a school rich in tradition, it is no different for the Ateneo de Naga.
For this year 2019, the silver jubilarians is the Ateneo de Naga HS Batch 1994. No doubt, they are planning a ton of activities to celebrate such a milestone. One such event being organized by Batch 1994 is the Knights Run which will be held in the morning of Dec 22.

Truly, the Knights Run embodies two Jesuit values that have been taught to us in our years of studying at the Ateneo de Naga. First is being "Men & Women for Others" by sharing our gifts and having concern for the poor and the marginalized. Second is "Cura personalis." It is a Latin phrase used by the Society of Jesus to denote care for all aspects of a person's health, from the physical to the mental and the spiritual. In the same way, our Christian faith ought to involve not just head but heart, not just soul but body. Physical exercises (like running) are as important as spiritual exercises. Learning is as important as a good run. We pray, learn, eat and play healthy as a ways to glorify God and care for our entire selves. Sadly, there is often disregard for our minds and bodies, which are gifts from above. The prevalence of overweight/obesity among adults in the Philippines is showing a gradually increasing trend.
The call to run from the Ateneo de Naga HS Batch 1994 must be commended and must be supported. Its noble cause is dual in nature: for education of the underprivileged and for the health of our bodies.

Looking forward to running with the brave, the beautiful and the kind-hearted this Dec 22.
Kudos to the active members of the Ateneo de Naga HS Batch 1994 for organizing the Knights Run.
