I am a Bicolano by birth and choice. By any standards, I am a slow runner but I like it that way. I look at running as a healthy and exciting way to make a difference. Together with my fellow runners from our family, school, office, and the community, we use running to give back.

DZMM Takbo Para sa Karunungan : March 11, 2012

One of the older fun runs in the country is the one sponsored by radio station DZMM .  This year’s edition is called DZMM Takbo Para Sa Karunungan scheduled on March 11, 2012 (6am) at the Quirino Grandstand.

This inspiring  fun run dates back to the year 1999 when DZMM launched its Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan.  Thru the years until 2010, this fun run has supported several campaigns for the environment such as the rehabilitation of the La Mesa watershed and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Project through ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Kalikasan.

In 2010, it shifted its focus to education, thus resulting in a change of name to Takbo Para Sa Karunungan.  For the 2012 edition, the DZMM fun run will benefit 25 scholar-students from Cagayan de Oro and another 25 scholar-students from Iligan City, both places  ravaged by Typhoon Sendong.  It will also raise funds to maintain the scholarship of the 25 Typhoon Ondoy victims   who were chosen as beneficiaries of the 2010 fun run.

The participation of First Balfour   employees in the DZMM fun run has spanned from 2008 to 2011, and this will continue.
