I am a Bicolano by birth and choice. By any standards, I am a slow runner but I like it that way. I look at running as a healthy and exciting way to make a difference. Together with my fellow runners from our family, school, office, and the community, we use running to give back.

ONE RUN ONE PHILIPPINES: October 6, 2013

EmoticonOne Run One Philippines is a fun run for the benefit of various environmental advocacies in the country. It is a  simultaneous eco-run in Quezon City, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao and Los Angeles that calls for the protection of various environmental advocacies in the Philippines.

The event is part of the "Mga Kuwento ng Kasiyahan: The Grand Kapamilya Weekend," in celebration of ABS-CBN's 60th anniversary. The five legs of One Run, One Philippines will have different environmental beneficiaries, specifically:

•Quezon City (Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig’s Run for the Pasig River) – Rehabilitation of esteros of Manila and Quezon City

•Cebu (RNG Kapamilya Run) – Coastal conservation in Daan Paz

•Davao (RNG Kapamilya Run) – Ecotourism projects in Marilog Tourist Center

•Bacolod (RNG Kapamilya Run) – Mangrove and livelihood projects in Punta Taytay, Sum-ag River rehabilitation, and ecotourism projects in Bacolod City Water District Campuestuhan Watershed

•Los Angeles (TFC Global Kapamilya Run) – Ecotourism projects under the Green Initiative of Bantay Kalikasan

Like many organizations and institutions in the Philippines, our company, First Balfour, believes in these environmental advocacies. In fact, our Vision-Mission includes the item that the protection of the environment is of paramount importance. Activities or initiatives that we could be of help on environmental advocacies, we take it.

When the invite from ABS CBN Foundation came on the One Run One Philippines, we mobilized immediately to inform our employees and encouraged them to join the run in Quezon City this October 6 and invite their family members and friends to do so, too. We had posters and sign up sheets placed in our bulletin board. Emails were sent to the First Balfour community.

Thus far this Monday (September 16), we have gotten more than 270 employees and their friends to sign up.  More to come as we are gunning for 500.
