This month of March is a very fruitful month for my running.
At the start of the month, I got to realize my long time dream to run in the Bataan Death March Ultramarathon. A couple of weeks later, I get to pace three (3) of my co-workers in First Balfour in their very first marathon.
Thus, it was a big bonus for me to receive as “pasalubong” from my sister-in-law, Divine Gomez, a pair of Asics GT-2160 and two Under Armour Heatgear compression shirts (one shortsleeve and one longsleeve). My wife’s sister, Divine and her husband Alex went to New York, USA and when they came back, they gave me these cool stuff.

ASICS GT-2160
First introduced in the US in late 2010, the Asics GT-2160 is a multi-awarded running shoes. At the December 2010 issue of the Runner’s World Magazine, it was awarded the United States “Editor’s Choice” award. In November 2011, the same magazine awarded the Asics GT-2160 the 2011 International “Editor’s Choice Award”.
Runner’s World Magazine awards one distinguished shoe style the prestigious International “Editor’s Choice” award each year. The publication noted that the GT-2160 has “rock-steady stability features, foot-hugging fit and plush cushioning” as the primary reasons for earning the award. The shoe was selected by a panel of International Runner’s World editors from the 15 countries in which the magazine is published (Australia/New Zealand, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands/Belgium, Philippines, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States).

The Duomax makes Asics GT 2160 a stability shoes versus a cushioning shoes like the Asics Cumulus |
The Runner’s World review of the GT-2160 read as follow:
“The 2160 wraps the foot in a soothing embrace that makes long runs feel much shorter. And the interior of this update has even more soft lining in the upper than the previous version, creating a snug fit without pressure points. Asics softened the Gel and foam midsole and added deep grooves in the outsole to provide a smooth feel through toe-off. Wear-testers loved the overall fit and not-too-mushy underfoot feel of this shoe. We recommend the 2160 as a supportive high-mileage shoe for normal- to low-arched runners."
With a review like this, I can’t wait to try out this new pair of running shoes. Given that it has the same genes as my ever-reliable Cumulus 12 & Cumulus 13, I have no doubt I will get to enjoy it.
