I am a Bicolano by birth and choice. By any standards, I am a slow runner but I like it that way. I look at running as a healthy and exciting way to make a difference. Together with my fellow runners from our family, school, office, and the community, we use running to give back.

What is the best mango shake I have ever tasted?

Answer:  The one at Red  Platter, Naga City.

Mango is the national fruit of the Philippines.  It is a comfort food.  It is an excellent source of Vitamins A and C, as well as a good source of Potassium and contains beta carotene.   You can say that runners, fast or slow,  benefit a lot from consuming this fruit.  And what better way to enjoy this natural delicacy in our tropical clime  than   via a cool mango shake.

Best mango shake

But many of the mango shakes that one gets to order in the popular food establishments in the metropolis don’t do justice to the fruit.  Often, the shakes tasted bland or very much watered down.

It was, thus a very pleasant surprise when I got to  taste the mango shake at Red Platter along Magsaysay Avenue (a block away from the Avenue Hotel) after one of  my training runs last June 2010 for the Camsur Marathon.   Finally,  justice for the mango.  This mango shake is very rich in taste, and even delightful to the eyes.

So if you happen to be in Naga City, try this mango shake.  I am sure you will agree with me.  It is simply the best mango shake you will ever taste.
