I got to call up Messrs. Rivera and Manaog of AdeNubenta and they informed me that the fun run is for the benefit of the Fatima Orphanage in Iriga City. They believe that several of the charitable institutions in Naga City have already a lot of support, so they decided to venture out of Naga to look for a worthy foundation to support. One of their batchmates is a priest who got to work at the Fatima Orphanage and recommended the said institution.

This is welcome news for me as the Fatima orphanage is in our barrio of San Agustin in Iriga City. I am familiar with its charitable work. Since 1974, Fatima Center has been able to implement various programs and services for the improvement in the living conditions of orphans, street children, victims of violence, abandoned children, persons with disabilities, single parents, cultural minorities and disadvantaged children and the general welfare of the poor. Fatima Center provides the basics of life such as food, shelter, education and a loving and safe environment. It has an orphanage for 150 poor children, and a public elementary and high school for the local community, as well as a shelter and services for battered women and indigenous Aeta people.

It is always inspiring to learn of people helping others.  It is also inspiring to learn of groups like AdeNubenta using running as a way to help. Ateneans being true to their “men for others” education.

We will encourage our Naga-based 83neans to participate in this December 2 fun run.

Many thanks... This will indeed help us increase awareness and be able to engage fellow Ateneans to help those that really need it.
