SECS CUP : 5th Fundraising Golf Invitational Tournament

This Monday (March  25) was no running day for me.

It was a day for golf. The Bicolano Penguin and a handful of fellow 83neans were at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club for the 5th SECS Cup.

SECS stands for School, Environment, Community and Scholarships and these are the pillars  of the outreach  initiatives  of the Ateneo de Naga HS Batch 1983.  Now on its 5th running, the SECS Cup has contributed significantly to the funds of the batch for its efforts to be men for others.

Thanks to the SECS Cup, the batch has been sponsoring the tuition fees of two college scholars at the Ateneo de Naga University: one graduating this March in Business Administration while the other will be an Octoberian graduate this 2013 in Education.  It  has funded two tree planting activities in the foothills of  Mt. Asog in Buhi.

Funds from the SECS Cup have also contributed to the batch’s outreach activity of giving out slippers and school supplies to grade school pupils of public elementary schools in remote yet lovely barrios in Bicol.  As of the latest count, we have visited 13  barangays (1 in Albay, 3 in Camarines Norte and 9 in Camarines Sur) for this purpose.  The 83neans will continue on this endeavour as it allows us to get in touch more of our home region.

We are very thankful for all the corporate sponsors and golf players who contributed to the success of our SECS Cup. An improvement for this year vis-à-vis the past editions of the SECS Cup was the presence of a product  exhibit in the form of the Freshman Masculine Wash. ELEV8 Corp. Marketing Manager Ayn Catalan and her staff were present to introduce the product and give samples to the golfers.

We appreciate very much the leading 83neans (Art, Fards, Jobel, Ed, Bobby,  Ghibz, Rico, Bogs, Maning, Bert, Bitoy, Epok, Meng, Danny, Butch, Jun, Franco, Jonel and Ernie  to name a few) who made this SECS Cup possible.

We dream of more SECS.  All “por da lab.”
