I am a Bicolano by birth and choice. By any standards, I am a slow runner but I like it that way. I look at running as a healthy and exciting way to make a difference. Together with my fellow runners from our family, school, office, and the community, we use running to give back.

LAKAW DALAGAN PARA KI INA: October 5, Bombon

EmoticonThe Church of the Nuestra Senora del Rosario is the parish church of Bombon, Camarines Sur. One of the remarkable churches in the Bicol Region, it has a leaning bell tower. It evokes  a rich history of our Diocese of Nueva Caceres.

Come October 5, there will be a fun run in the municipality of Bombon that will benefit the centuries old church. This morning, I called up Fr. Rey Caceres, a grade school classmate and friend at the La Consolacion Academy in the late 1970s, who is the hard working parish priest.  He confirmed that the Dalagan Para Ki Ina is for the church and its programs .

Distances are 2kms, 5kms and 10kms. Registration fees ranged from Php 150 to Php 250.  For more details you can call Konsehal Eddie Alteza (09175806417) or visit https://www.facebook.com/events/635472413153520/.

I have started to inform my friends  from Naga and Rinconada about this October 5 fun run. Likewise, my classmates  from both the Ateneo de Naga and La Consolacion Academy. Who knows, I might even be able to go home together with a few running buddies from Manila on that weekend.

This is a fun run with its own small town charms. More importantly, it is for a good cause.

This is  recommended.
