I am a Bicolano by birth and choice. By any standards, I am a slow runner but I like it that way. I look at running as a healthy and exciting way to make a difference. Together with my fellow runners from our family, school, office, and the community, we use running to give back.

HIGH MILES FOR THE CHILDREN: A Run for the Benefit of St. Rita Orphanage

This May 3, 2015, BIG HOUSE EVENTS PRODUCTION in partnership with Explore Philippines, Aktivshow and 1DigiMedia will be having a fun run entitled, HIGH MILES FOR THE CHILDREN. This run is for the benefit of St. Rita Orphanage in Paranaque City.  The fun run will be held at the Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Participants may chose from 5K, 10K and 16K categories.  Al runners will receive a Race Kit and a Finisher Medal. In addition, those who join and finishes the 16K will receive a finisher shirt.

The HIGH MILES FOR THE CHILDREN fun run is one of the several short distance races that the Bicolano Penguin will be joining this summer time as I try to regain the cardio vascular endurance needed to participate in longer distance races (i.e. marathon and ultra marathon).

An added appeal is the fact that a finisher medal is to be had for all those that finish any of the 3 distances. It is an enticing way to have our children join a fun run.  It is summer time after all and we need our kids to get a taste a lot of the outdoor and wean them away from the mind-numbing  games in their tablets and smart phones.  Plus, showing them an example of being altruistic will have a positive impact on their young lives.
